Thanking those making a difference within the community

Bankstown Sports Club proudly hosted its “Dinner with People Making a Difference” on 21st of May, in recognition of National Volunteer Week (18–24 May), Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering.

The special evening served as a heartfelt thank you to the many organisations and dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to support individuals and families across our community. Whether through charitable services, grassroots initiatives, or local sporting clubs, these volunteers play an essential role in building stronger, more connected communities.

The event brought together a diverse group of community leaders, volunteers, and representatives to celebrate their contributions and share in an evening of appreciation and recognition. Guests heard from The Hon. Minister Jihad Dib, Bankstown Sports Club Chair Vernon, and Centre for Volunteering Director of Sector Development and Capability Building, Clint, who each delivered inspiring speeches. Their messages highlighted the vital impact volunteers have, not only in providing direct support to those in need, but in fostering a spirit of generosity, inclusion, and resilience throughout the region. Each speaker expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing commitment, passion, and selflessness demonstrated by volunteers every day.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, guests enjoyed engaging entertainment by painter and entertainer Brad Blaze, along with delicious food shared among peers and community members. The evening provided a wonderful opportunity for attendees to connect, reflect, and be recognised for their invaluable efforts.

Bankstown Sports Club extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to all organisations and their volunteers for the extraordinary work they do. Their dedication continues to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of so many, and this event was a small token of gratitude for their immense contribution to making a difference within our community.
