Bankstown Sports is proud to support the Purple Friday initiative, a state-wide social impact initiative that brings registered clubs across NSW together to say no to Domestic and Family Violence (DFV).
On Friday 8 May, our clubs will 'go purple' to demonstrate our commitment to ending DFV. Our staff will wear purple, our venues will be decorated in purple, and we will be encouraging conversations about respect, safety and support within our community.
Purple Friday shines a spotlight on the club's industry's role in prevention, early intervention and community support — reinforcing that clubs are not just places to gather, but places that care.
In addition to the Purple Friday event, our club has also been supporting a number of family and domestic violence support services in our local area —
Bankstown Sports has funded education workshops for community organisations supporting victims in this space, and we are supporting and hosting the Women's Community Shelter Walk the Talk Program.
Each venue in the Bankstown Sports Group is a provider of Escabags which offer individuals and families fleeing violent situations a bag full of high-quality essentials for times of crisis. Members of our staff will also be volunteering with this organisation, helping to pack and distribute bags.
In the month of May, Bankstown Sports will match donations at all point-of-sale donation tins, with all money collected going to local shelters.
We also provide access to support services for our staff members who may be experiencing family or domestic violence themselves.
