In 2023, Bankstown Sports Club contributed $60,000 in funding towards scholarships for dozens of nurses and midwives at Bankstown Lidcombe Hospital, to assist them in developing their proficiencies within their clinical specialties. 

 These scholarships – which are actioned within 12 months - ensure the organisation is able to attract and retain highly skilled nursing staff who are up to date with the latest nursing practices, to ensure patients receive the highest level of care. 

 This is the 19th year Bankstown Sports Club has supported this wonderful initiative and the presentation ceremony at the hospital is always one our Board look forward to attending. 

 Among the scholarships included in the funding –  

• Attendance at the NSW OTA Annual State Conference for an Operating Theatre Nurse 
• Attendance at the ACM 3-day National Conference for a Midwife 
• Specialist Ultrasound training in Vascular Access for a nurse in the Ambulatory Care Unit 
• Attendance at the Australian Healthcare Week Conference for multiple staff 

 We look forward to working with the hospital again next year to provide support for nurses and midwives looking to further their skills.
