Despite the recent unpredictable weather, the Bankstown District Cricket Club (BDCC), in collaboration with Recreation Sports Athletics Club (RSAC) and the All-Abilities program, proudly hosted Joondalup Kinross Cricket Club from Western Australia for a series of All-Abilities cricket matches. Held at Vale of Ah Reserve, Milperra, the event also welcomed players from Canberra and the Central Coast, making it a truly inclusive and memorable weekend.
While torrential rain may have brought the game to an early close, it couldn’t dampen the spirits of the players, coaches, and supporters who gathered to celebrate their shared love for cricket. From the moment the teams arrived, there was an undeniable sense of camaraderie and passion for the game, which created an uplifting atmosphere throughout the event.
Our Western Australian guests were given a special tour of the Cricket Club’s facilities at Memorial Oval, including access to the first-grade change rooms. This was made even more memorable by Daniel Solway, BDCC’s First Grade Captain, who generously spent time speaking with the participants and taking photos, creating unforgettable memories for everyone involved.
The joy and excitement radiating from the players throughout the weekend served as a powerful reminder of why these events are so important. All-Abilities cricket is about so much more than the game—it’s about creating opportunities, fostering inclusion, and leaving participants with experiences they’ll treasure forever.
This event’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible dedication and hard work of volunteers from all participating organizations. Their commitment ensured the day was a triumph despite the challenging weather conditions.
Bankstown Sports is immensely proud to support All-Abilities cricket and remains committed to championing initiatives that provide players of all abilities the chance to enjoy and thrive in the game.
Here’s to more inspiring events like this, bringing communities together and showcasing the power of sport to unite us all.
