BANKSTOWN SPORTS NAMED FINALISTS IN FIVE CLUBSNSW AWARDS CATEGORIES

communitynews | 15 Apr 2025 |

Bankstown Sports Club is incredibly proud to be recognised as a finalist in five prestigious categories at the upcoming 2025 ClubsNSW Clubs & Community Awards, taking place this July at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney.

These awards celebrate the impactful initiatives and programs delivered by clubs across New South Wales, and we are honoured to be acknowledged for our continued commitment to supporting our members and the wider community. The five categories Bankstown Sports has been nominated in reflect the depth of our community partnerships and the work these individuals and organisations do:

Education – For our partnership with Western Sydney University, providing scholarships for Social Work students. This initiative supports the future of vital community services by investing in students who are passionate about making a difference in people’s lives, particularly those who are disadvantaged or at-risk.

Emergency Services – For our long-standing partnership with Rotary in delivering the Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards (RESCA). These awards shine a light on the selfless efforts of frontline emergency personnel and volunteers across the state, recognising their commitment, courage and contribution to our communities.

Fostering Grassroots Sport – For our ongoing Volunteer Development Program, which supports our invaluable sport committee administrators each year. Through this program, we provide essential mentoring and training to help grow and strengthen grassroots sport.

Health Care – For our partnership with charity Eat Up, which helps provide healthy meals to schoolchildren facing food insecurity. Through this collaboration, Bankstown Sports contributes to the preparation and delivery of thousands of sandwiches to local schools, ensuring students can focus on learning without the distraction of hunger.

Heart of the Community – Recognising Tyrone Wait, President of Birrong Sports Football Club, for his extraordinary dedication and tireless volunteer work in leading his club.

Bankstown Sports extend our gratitude to our community partners, volunteers, staff, and club members whose support makes initiatives like these possible.

The winning submissions will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on July 19, 2025.
