Bankstown Sports Club was proud to provide $5,000 worth of sponsorship to the 37th Australian Sikh Games, which took place from April 18–20 at The Crest Sporting Complex, Bass Hill – home to six Bankstown Sports affiliated sporting codes.
The Australian Sikh Games are one of the most significant sporting and cultural events on the national calendar, drawing over 100,000 spectators and welcoming more than 5,000 athletes from across Australia and abroad. Participants from countries such as New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, and the United Kingdom travelled to Bankstown to compete and celebrate in this three-day multicultural showcase.
Spanning 15 different sports, the Games feature a mix of traditional Indian sports and popular Australian codes, offering something for everyone. From kabbadi and wrestling to netball, cricket, and soccer, the event is a true celebration of athleticism, heritage, and community spirit. More than 120 not-for-profit sporting and cultural organisations participated in the festivities, brought to life by hundreds of volunteers and the support of local businesses and governments.
A special highlight for Bankstown Sports was seeing a group of former Premier League players, managed by current Bankstown Sports Hockey Club President Ray Veleski, take out the Over 40’s Division title – a fantastic achievement that added a local flavour to this nationally significant event.
Bankstown Sports is proud to support events like the Australian Sikh Games that enrich our community, promote inclusivity, and encourage participation across all ages and backgrounds. We congratulate all athletes, organisers, and volunteers on a successful and memorable event.
