ENRICHING THE LIVES OF RESIDENTS LIVING WITH DEMENTIA

Bankstown Sports is proud to provide $100,000 in funding through ClubGRANTS to support the delivery of the Clown Doctors program, to enhance the lives of residents living with dementia at Bankstown City Aged Care.

The Clown Doctors offer evidence-based programs to help residents connect with their families and staff, through humour and play. This program has been hugely successful in the Gillawarna Wing at BCAC for the past six years and has contributed to a reduction in the need for medications to manage challenging behaviours from residents.

This program will be delivered in conjunction with other therapy programs to enhance the overall wellbeing of the residents at BCAC.

When these therapies are combined, it is a powerful way of creating meaning and connection for these residents, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact these programs will have.
