MAKING A STAND

By Emma Duxbury | 20 Nov 2017 |

Did you know-

  • At least 1 woman in Australia is killed every week by a current or former partner
  • 1 in 3 Australian women over the age of 15 have reported experiencing physical or sexual violence at some time in their lives
  • Women are at least three times more likely than men to experience violence from an intimate partner

White Ribbon Day is a worldwide campaign, encouraging men to stand up and speak out against violence towards women. Canterbury Bankstown Council is holding its annual Tug-O-War competition on Friday, 24 November to help raise awareness about the issue of domestic violence in the local area.

Bankstown Sports is entering two teams this year and we are ready to bring our all! They will be competing against local businesses and community organisations like the police, firies and local personal trainers who will also be showing their support for the initiative.

To show your support for our White Ribbon team, head down to John Mackay Indoor Sports Centre on Chapel Rd South between 12-2.30 pm this Friday.
