Following a highly anticipated build-up, the first ever e-sports tournament at Bankstown Sports Club has been a great success, with $10,000 in cash and prizes given away.
The FIFA 18 event began with registrations from 8am before entrants were allowed free-play on the 48-game consoles set up in The Grand Ballroom. The first round of pool matches kicked off from 10.30am with over 300 people playing in both singles and doubles events, with plenty of spectators packing The Grand Ballroom to watch it all unfold.
Our shout-casters were kept busy commentating games on our huge 6x3m LED screen onstage and some of the second-round matches and the finals games were live-streamed on Twitch, the world’s leading social video service and online gaming community. Highlights of the day will be available on Twitch in the coming days. Simply download the Twitch App and search pzesports.
Congratulations to our singles winner Muzza255 who flew up from Melbourne just to compete in the event, and walked away with $5,000. And well done to our doubles winners Frauds FC, who took home $2,000 between them.
Planning is already underway for a second e-sports event early next year, where a different game will be on offer for players. Our weekly e-sports Tournaments will continue in The Loft on Thursday evenings with registration from 6pm, and games from 7-10pm.
