Sporting clubs, November funding

By Emma Duxbury | 1 Dec 2017 |

Bankstown Sports Club is proud to be associated with 42 local sporting clubs, and in the month of November, we contributed over $175,000 to help with the overall operations of these clubs. This funding assists our grassroots sporting clubs and provides participation opportunities for junior and senior sporting players in our local community.

Bankstown Sports Men’s Golf Club was one group who benefitted from the recent funding allocation, with financial support going towards their seniors’ strategy, which encourages their senior golfers to stay actively involved in the sport. The golf club conducted a raffle at the beginning of the year to help raise money for this project, but they fell a little short and there was a risk it would not be able to run long term.

Bankstown Sports Strikers Football Club also accepted a contribution towards the cost of registration fees, ground hire, trophy subsidy and presentation ceremonies. Bankstown Sports Touch received funding for their annual state cup which is held in Port Macquarie, with the cost of hiring a marquee for the event now covered.

Baulkham Hills Netball Club put the money they received towards participation trophies, premier jackets and presentations to celebrate the end of a great season. Our contribution to Bankstown Sports AFL club will go towards covering the costs of participation trophies and lighting fees, which facilitates night time games.

Bankstown Sports Ladies Golf will now be able to engrave their end of season presentation trophies, and Greenacre Bowling Club will continue to hold their social games, tournaments and open days, thanks to funding from Bankstown Sports.

Bankstown Sports Mixed Indoor Bowls and Mixed Darts received funding for their championship prizes, and Baulkham Hills Football Club – who have successfully retained large enrolment numbers each season - received financial assistance to subsidise the registration costs for players and cover ground hire fees.

For funding to be granted, sporting clubs must submit an application requesting financial support. Receipts and invoices must be attached to show how much money has been spent on a sporting season and what was purchased. Funding is determined by the number of members, particularly juniors within a club and the nature of the sport.

These contributions will be put to good use by our clubs which are entirely run by volunteer committees and club officials.
