Did you know, Damien Leith used to be a chemist? He has always had a passion for music but wanted a backup plan in case he never made it big in the entertainment industry, and completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at University College in Dublin. He was working full time as a chemist in Sydney before auditioning for the 4th season of Australian Idol in 2006, when his life changed forever.
It’s been 10 years since that audition and in that time, Damien has released seven albums, four of which peaked in the top two of the ARIA Charts, as well as 8 singles. He’s now touring again to celebrate the last decade in show business, and he’s coming to Bankstown Sports on Saturday, Sept 3.
“This year, I decided it was a good time to get out there and celebrate those albums. I’ve picked a variety of songs for these shows; some of my favourites as well as songs that fans really want to hear, and I can’t wait to get out there and perform them, and have a really good evening”.
“There will be a few originals there, there will be covers of some Roy Orbison classics, songs like Hallelujah, a few Irish songs, and I’ll do a few requests as well. I would really like people to jump on Facebook and get some requests to me, so I can make sure I play what everyone wants to hear on the night”.
Damien says the show won’t just be all singing though.
“I’m going to be sharing stories and funny things that have happened over the last 10 years. There’s been a lot of touring and I’ll be combining the songs with those stories on stage. And we actually have my full band with me for this show, which we don’t have for other shows”.
