COLEMAN’S ACADEMY MENTORING

29 May 2019 |

When Jacinda Perrin, Phoebe Lambrou, Natalie Brame and Jessica Powidtch were given the opportunity to attend a Coleman’s Academy event, they all jumped at the chance.

The organisation is a mentoring program aimed at female bartending professionals, to help facilitate their career advancement within the hospitality industry, with a focus on education, personal growth, skill acquisition and career progression.

Coleman’s Academy runs a monthly women’s forum, which creates a basis for female bartenders to connect and communicate their ideas, experiences, systems, structures and goals, and to plan for the future.

Jacinda says the guest speakers were the highlight of the night.

“The ladies were talking about how tough it can be working in this industry and how they struggled earlier in their career, being in a minority of females. We all agreed that we have been lucky at Bankstown to never have felt that way. I think that shows how far ahead Bankstown is with that kind of stuff and that we are really positive with female empowerment”.

Phoebe says the event was a great way for women to get together and talk about their experiences in the industry.

“I felt positive when thinking about where I work and how everyone really is treated equally. Women at Bankstown Sports have a fair opportunity to move up and excel, which is evident by the number of our team leaders - both Bar and Gaming – who are female, and have been given these opportunities to work their way up”.

Coleman’s Academy events are open to all females working within the hospitality industry. For more information about upcoming events, visit Coleman’s Academy on Facebook.
