On Saturday 11 May, members of Bankstown Sports Athletics Club (BSAC) joined over 150 representatives from different clubs around the state, for the Athletics NSW Annual Awards Dinner at Luna Park, which recognises the achievements of officials, volunteers, coaches, clubs and athletes.
Some notable achievements for BSAC were:
- BSAC Vice President Lindsay Watson was awarded a Life Membership of Athletics NSW in recognition of his 30+ years as a coach and administrator
- BSAC President Colin Whitbread was named ANSW Administrator of the Year in recognition of his leadership at the club, and the club’s significant work for the broader athletics community, including the Albie Thomas Mile
- Belinda Cosgrove was named ANSW Community Coach of the Year for her significant contribution to coaching the massive squad of juniors at Bankstown, and managing their transition from Little Athletics to the open ranks
- BSAC was awarded it’s 9th consecutive Winter Club Trophy, a NSW record for most consecutive State Championships
Athletics NSW named Commonwealth Games medallists Dani Stevens and Brandon Starc as their Athletes of the Year, and Nick Hough’s win at the Nationals was rated the best performance at the Australian Championships.
