1 November 2018 will mark two years since Basement Brewhouse opened its doors for the first time, offering a unique craft beer and dining experience in Sydney’s southwest. So much has happened since then, with the launch of new in-house beers, new burgers, monthly specials, craft beer events, and countless patrons coming through the door to see what we have to offer.
In celebration of this special occasion, it seemed fitting to brew an Anniversary Ale!
The Nelson Sauvin IPA (Basement Brewhouse Anniversary Ale), on tap 8, is an IPA brewed using Nelson Sauvin New Zealand hop, which is a dual-purpose hop known for its white-wine "fruitiness" character.
The flavour profile of the Anniversary Ale runs from fruity, tropical notes of lychee and mango to fresh crushed gooseberries. Many may recognise the similarity to white wine, in New Zealand, Sauvin is shorthand for Sauvignon Blanc, a winemaking grape.
Basement Brewhouse Brewer says this beer won’t stick around for long.
“This beer has a great flavour profile of white wine and gooseberry, with a smooth lingering bitterness that carries through the beer from start to finish. I have brewed with the Nelson Sauvin hop once before and really enjoyed its character, which is why I decided to brew a beer that could showcase its unique aroma. I am sure this beer will be popular, it’s like nothing you have ever tasted before.”
But the party does not stop there! Celebrate with us on Thursday 1 November with $10 burgers all day and we will have a DJ on Friday 2 November to Saturday 3 November 8pm to 1am.
