Bankstown Representative Cricket, Mollie Dive, Margaret Peden
The Bankstown area is filled with a range of sporting clubs where friendships are made, skills are developed and sportsmanship is valued above all.
Two of our local girl’s teams, the Mollie Dive under 13’s and Margaret Peden under 15’s, competed in their respective competitions over the weekend and they were both crowned premiers.
Mollie Dive under 13’s played Manly in an away game where the opposition was fierce, but our girls came together to take the win. Every one of our bowlers took at least one wicket, with Vice-Captain Tahlie Dunne a stand out, taking 3 for 6. Expert team coach ex-Australian national women’s cricket player Sharon Millanta, has helped guide and train the girls for the past two seasons, they have impressively remained undefeated!
Our Margaret Peden under 15’s played at the Grahame Thomas Oval and the crowd was eager to watch a great game. We won the toss and elected to bat first against Newcastle. Jade Errington made 67 with the bat, including 11 fours. It was a close and nail biting game, and there were a few moments where it looked like the game could have gone either way.
But our girls pushed hard and after an astounding team effort, Bankstown took the win!
Congratulations to both teams on their sporting achievements over the weekend.
