As we prepare to sign off to the year and look forward to the Festive period with family and friends, Bankstown Sports Club is proud to announce a commitment of $500,000 to its long-term charitable partner, Little Wings.
Bankstown Sports Club has stood by the side of Little Wings since the organisation’s inception in 2012. A not-for-profit organisation, Little Wings provides a professional, free, and safe flight and ground transport service for children from rural and regional New South Wales to access specialised medical services and treatment in major centres. To date, Bankstown Sports Club has funded 101 missions supporting children from across the state in accessing life-saving treatment and the new partnership will see this number increase to 67 missions annually.
Of the announcement, Mark Condi, Bankstown Sports Club CEO said, “Since the get-go of our partnership with Little Wings, support for the organisation has always been a high priority to our business and it gives me great, personal, pleasure to be able to make this announcement in time for the holiday season. Knowing that the injection of $500k will add an additional 335 missions over the next 5 years is incredibly heart-warming.”
Condi continued “At Bankstown Sports Club, we also task ourselves to do what we can to support the business infrastructure side of the Little Wings organisation – this includes rent free office space within our building for Little Wings’ HQ, plus operational contributions of catering and tech support for their various events.”
Servicing NSW families 365 days of the year, Little Wings own a fleet of three Baron aircraft which operate out of Bankstown Aerodrome, and are predominantly volunteer led, including every pilot and driver. Their heroic work spans 55 regions across regional and rural NSW and while referrals remain relatively consistent, December is traditionally the busiest month working closely with the hospitals to get children home to their families for Christmas,
Clare Pearson, Little Wings CEO said, “The partnership with Bankstown Sports Club is one of deep impact for the hundreds of sick children from across the state. This iconic partnership will not only help transform the lives of families but go some way to alleviating pressure on the NSW healthcare system as they battle a unique crisis of their own.”
Pearson concluded, “This iconic partnership will ultimately allow our planes to reach new heights and provide support without hesitation. We could not be prouder of our relationship with Bankstown Sports, their commitment to families and community is profound and truly aligns with the mission of Little Wings.”
