do something day, sensory movie
Bringing people together and helping one another is what Do Something! Day is all about. Bankstown Sports is proud to be involved in the campaign again this year, encouraging our staff to take part in a variety of activities in our community.
Do Something Day will officially be held on Wednesday 25 July, but we have decided to extend some activities beyond the single day.
RECREATION SPORTS AND AQUATIC CLUB
RSAC is an unfunded community-based organisation that provides sport, recreation and social activities for people with a disability in the Bankstown area. On Saturday 7 July, our employees attended the RSAC monthly Saturday Morning Cooking Class held at their Greenfield Parade centre. Menu items included Honey Soy Chicken, Noodle Salad, Stuffed Baked Potatoes and Crackle Candy. Employees engaged in a variety of activities including helping people get ready to cook, assisted with the basic cooking tasks and preparing the table setting.
BANKSTOWN CITY AGED CARE (BCAC)
On 11 July, BCAC welcomed volunteers to come and meet with their residents for a cup of tea and a chat, to help them feel connected to the community. Bankstown Sports staff attended to bringing a smile to an elderly resident’s face and participated in a variety of activities including board and computer games. Bankstown Sports staff will visit BCAC residents again on Wednesday 25 July.
SENSORY MOVIE SESSIONS
On Wednesday 18 July, we will be holding a Sensory Session of Sherlock Gnomes in The Theatre at 10.30am. This session will cater for adults and children, allowing families to enjoy a movie in an accepting and inclusive environment. Attendees will be free to leave their seats and move around, the audio will be turned down and the lights dimmed, so all attendees can feel comfortable in their surroundings. Tickets $10 Adults and $5 Pensioners/Seniors and Children. All Children must be accompanied by an adult.
