On Saturday 27 October 2018, Bankstown Sports Baseball Club held their Pink Day, for the second year running. The Club’s Pink Day is now an annual event that takes place on the last Saturday in October.
The event is to support Breast Cancer research, with all funds raised donated to the Pink Ribbon Foundation. Bankstown Sports Baseball Club President, Jeff Craft says “This is an event the whole club looks forward to. Breast cancer is one of the biggest killers and as a community based sporting club we feel we can help make a difference”
Over 80 junior players participated in the 2018 event by wearing pink socks and accessories, promoting awareness of their cause in a sea of pink. Tania Mihailuk MP attended the event to show her support and threw the first pitch for the Majors Game: Bankstown Sports vs Mets Storm Under 12’s game
Bankstown Sports board member and Bankstown Sports Baseball Club life member Richard Phillips was on hand to throw the first pitch of the Junior League - Bankstown Sports vs Red Socks Under 14’s game.
The club raised additional funds via a sausage sizzle and lolly table.
Bankstown Sports recognises the efforts made by the Bankstown Sports Baseball Club to raise funds to support the Pink Ribbon Foundation, and thanks them for the contribution they have made to such a worthwhile charity.
