Following the devastating earthquake in Amatrice, Italy, which levelled the city and left more than 280 people dead, Bankstown Sports Club’s La Piazza has joined the Federation of Italian Chefs, Australia to raise funds for the victims of this tragedy.
$5.00 from every Spaghetti Amatriciana sold at Pizzeria Bellucci and Stuzzichino will be donated to help the survivors, and to assist with clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Amatriciana sauce originates from the town of Amatrice, and is one of the best known pasta sauces in Italian cuisine.
La Piazza owners Gary Di Paola and Mario Libertini say they wanted to do anything they could to help.
“This disaster has left thousands of people homeless and without food or water. Almost the entire town has been destroyed. They need a lot of help and we thought if we could raise a bit of money and send it over there, it might make a difference.
“We would love everyone to come in and order the Spaghetti Amatriciana. If you’re in a group, order it as a dish to share or get a couple to put on the table. It will be on our specials menu for the next few weeks. The more we sell, the more money we can send over to the town”.
