Celebrating 56 years

By Emma Duxbury | 26 Sep 2016 |

Bankstown Sports celebrated a milestone for one of our longest serving members on Friday night, with Brian Wootton and his wife Jill notching up 56 years of marriage.

Brian has been a member since 1962 and was a founding member of the Bankstown Sports Baseball Club, which is still in operation now. He also spent a number of years working behind the bar.

The lovely couple now live on the Central Coast, but decided to celebrate their husband and wife milestone with a visit to the club for Joe Avati’s comedy show in The Theatre. They booked a Travelodge package and were upgraded to an Executive Suite, complete with a dining voucher and complimentary bottle of wine. Before the show, they sat down to a delicious meal in our Platform One dining cars, prepared by Executive Chef Helmut Gundendorfer.

Brian also ducked into the Total Sports Lounge to check on the AFL and NRL finals scores, hoping for NSW wins in both!

He says even though they don’t live in Sydney anymore, they do try and get to the club as much as possible, and they’ve loved watching it grow and change over the years.

Bankstown Sports would like to congratulate Brian and Jill on their anniversary, and we hope to see them back at the club again soon!
