To our 50,000-plus members, Bankstown Sports is more than a club, it’s an old friend, a haven and a place for fun, enjoyment and relaxation.
To new visitors to the club, it’s a pleasant surprise. Why? Because Bankstown Sports likes to do things differently and has set itself apart for many years with its friendly staff, its unique decor, its great food options and its terrific range of entertainment.
Bankstown Sports is also a committed supporter of the local community and all club profits go towards the improvement of the club and the local community.
In so many ways, the club supports deserving community groups. It starts with our support of about 40 local sporting clubs (about 8000 people in all), then there is the Community Development Support Expenditure scheme which provides substantial financial assistance every year to a wide range of groups. The club also provides venues free of charge for community meetings, conferences and concerts, and it manages and maintains the Dunc Gray Velodrome.
Bankstown Sports Club’s family of venues includes Bankstown Sports Bowls, The Handle Bar Tavern (at Dunc Gray Velodrome) and Baulkham Hills Sports Club.
The club is constantly moving forward, renovating, developing and providing something new for its members.
Highlights of the past 10 years include:
$60 million was spent on car parking facilities.
$8 million on the new Italian Precinct, La Piazza.
$1.2 million on the revamped coffee shop, ‘wichcraft café.
$12 million on stage 1 of the new conference and events centre, The Grand Ballroom.
$3 million on the Handle Bar Tavern, that helps support the Dunc Gray Velodrome.
More than $6 million on the Dunc Gray Velodrome, since the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
$9 million on redeveloping the Baulkham Hills Sports Club.
$2.3 million on the Bankstown City Bowling & Recreation Club.
The above is in addition to regular funding provided to the community.
